Here’s an update on what’s happening in Annapolis at the end of the twelfth week of the 2023 Legislative Session. We are down to one full week, and then Monday is Sine Die, which translates to no definite date or period to resume. In short, any bill that does not pass by midnight on Sine Die will be dead and will have to wait for the 2024 Legislative Session.

Ready In the Press

This week, there was extensive debate on the Senate floor relating to the cost of living in Maryland. One of my top priorities this session has been fighting for tax relief, especially for retirees that commonly can’t afford to retire in Maryland. Delmarva Now wrote an article about this issue and highlighted some of the debate from the Senate floor. You can read this article by clicking here, or the picture below.

Speaking to TeenPact Leadership School

I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak with TeenPact Leadership School students in Annapolis on Wednesday in between floor and committee activities. These students are learning the legislative process and how their values can be lived out in the public square. They brought me lots of great questions. It is great to see young people actively involved in civics!
